  • Asparagus bed

I love asparagus and for the last 20 ish years have been putting off growing it as "I may have moved before it's ready"..

so before I get too old and wrinkly to do so I am going to bite the bullet and actually start a bed.

    so---any tips? (no pun intended)

    where do I start..

I've been asking many questions about this very subject recently - Paulottie, Nicos and others have been a mine of information.

A quick search should turn up much recent info as a start. Good luck - I'm thrilled that my very first thin pale spear has just appeared!

Be absolutely sure that where you plant them is where you are happy for them to be for several years - my 3yr old crowns are in exactly the wrong spot of my allotment and I've read that they really really don't like to be moved! Unfortunately I might just have to risk it.

I don't particularily like the stuff so I don't grow it. It is a rather decorative fern though and as such would it not be suitable to grow in a large pot? Probably not, but just a thought!
