  • Anyone grown Collards?

I have three different types to hopefully give a succession.

    Morris Heading

    Georgia Southern

    Yates

Growing them partially for the chooks but because they are an ancient brassica will be quite interested in the taste experience!

Isn't collard just an american name for spring greens? Like zucchini is courgette and rutabaga is swede?

Have heard of sprout tops being called collards but never heard of them in their own right. If they are like spring greens there is a bit of difference between a sprout top and spring greens. You will have to post a pic once you have grown them Snadger.

Rubbish! We're not stupid. I don't know where we'd be without the advice of these experts.

For years I'd been planting my carrot seeds and the green stuff has appeared on top and yet the delicious orange stuff has been covered in dirt. Thanks to the wonderful advice of the experts on this forum, I've planted my carrot seeds the other way up and now I can expect to have the orange carrots above the surface saving both cleaning and digging! It's going to be a bumper crop"
