Anyone come across any 'Daniels' varieties

    Anyone come across any 'Daniels' varieties

    Just wondered if anyone has come across whilst browsing any seeds with names that are preceded with Daniels. The only one I have found is Lettuce - Daniels' Continuity from Thomas Etty.

    Daniels Brothers of Norwich Seed Merchants were apparently responsible for introducing 1200+ varieties I would like to think that more than 1 variety has survived over the 100 years.

    Any help would be great.

      NO SEED. Ex HDRA. A scarlet runner with mottled black/purple beans. Our most popular climbing bean: Very tasty - “you won’t want to eat another bean once you’ve eaten these ones”. Original HDRA name is actually “Daniel’s Defiance” after a long-closed seed company in Norwich, England. The name changed out here – was it a misprint, or is there a story here?

          Thank you VC. Not sure about the tom can only trace it back to Germany there is a similar one and that seems to be American Typical a Norfolk bean is in New Zealand but least another variety has survived. Love the catalogues.

            I'm sure Daniel's Defiance has been in an HSL seedlist - in fact vague feeling I ordered it once but I've looked through my seeds and can't find any leftovers.

                You are a little star. I know it is only vaguely familiar but was it the runner. They had quite a few Daniels' Defiance - Brussel Sprout, Cabbage, Cue and Runner that I have found so far

                  Its the runner I'm thinking of - but yes, I searched that catalogue for "Daniels" and there are lots of seeds and spuds with Daniels in the name.

                          Hopefully some seedswappers are still reading. Yes I am being cheeky again

                          If you go to any seed swaps could you please look out for Daniel's Defiance Runner Bean

                          HSL do have it but it is currently in rotation to be bulked up, however I have been told that old seeds may have been sent out for seed swaps, but none of their seed swaps are near me (ha!ha!) If you are able to find some then I will sort you out with something for your trouble (kiss, kiss, grovel, grovel)
