  • Am I expecting too much...

or am I just too impatient. After successfully rearing seeds to seedlings and then to proper stuff I moved them to the garden. Eg..squash, cucumbers and peppers. My garden is protected and I have still kept some plastic bottles on those I thought were more tender. When can I expect them to say 'thanks mam' and start striking out.

I find turning you back for a few days then peeking makes them grow faster As long as they haven't keeled over they've get there eventually.

Rusty... the squashes about 3 weeks and the cuc lets say 2

Tamsin... Spot on. I try not to harrass them but find it very hard not to peek when they are not looking.

Planting out is always a bit of a shock to a plant.
I think they just sit there for a while shivering and then concentrate on putting down some roots.
Hence the tops don't always seem to get away instantly.
But once they are ready they will be off like a rocket.
