Just an over view. Oddly enough nothing much is happening. Oh look, I still have lots of sprouts

The whole garden looks much more bare than usual as most of the brassicas and all of the leeks, parsnips and beetroot are at the allotment.

Nothing much happening near the hotbin, strawberries in the planter on the seat really need replanting or replacing this year.

All looking very bare. I will be pruning the white currant soon and possibly the apple, but leaving the apricot in the bucket strictly alone.

Strawberries and herbs on the path. Kale and spring cabbage under the net. I have taken the nets off the calabrese as they seemed to be encouraging aphids and slugs. Florence fennel in the green pot.

Not too much growing at the moment - beetroot and parsnips dormant ripe for picking, asparagus in bed asleep, some brassicas and leeks, a bed of garlic (pictured) and a similar one of autumn planted onions.

                    February

Nothing much has changed since January except for a slight covering of snow. Therefore these are my pictures for this month. Normal photos will resume when the weather improves!

                    Back garden:

One difference - the wooden side door to the garage, which was sticking when wet and wouldn't stay shut when dry, has been replaced with a plastic one which lets a bit more light in.

A light dusting of snow, almost hiding the remaining weeds ;-)

A slightly different angle of the veggie garden because it doesn't look any different to last month. Apart from a bit of snow.

Still plenty of carrots and brokali to go at. Strawberries, cauliflowers and peas in the growhouse.

The strawberry shelf is looking rather empty as most of the plants are in the cold frame and growhouse or have gone to the allotment. Self seeded mizuna in the bucket is starting to bolt. The blueberries in the fruit cage are worrying me as there seems to be a shortage of flower buds. Maybe they didn't like last year's heat.

Spring cabbage and kale under the net. Fennel in the green pot and cauliflowers under the plastic cloche. The netting against the fence is ready for the peas currently in the growhouse. Herbs and miscellaneous strawberries on the path. The new minarette apple tree can just be seen tied to the arch if you use your imagination.

March,I haven’t done much in my garden this year but this is what it looks like now. I noticed my clematis has started growing at the bottom of the garden,I’ve pushed some of the vines through the trellis (I was late noticing last year & had to use sticks to push the bundle towards the trellis,it didn’t look good). Pruned the shrubs, left the sticks on the beds to stop my cat, looks a bit messy but it might warm the soil a bit. My leeks are still there,I’ll let them flower although one looks a good size. I put some sticks there amongst my peas the other day & I was going to attach two bits of net,I’ll try & remember to do that tomorrow -

Still rather empty looking - I will soon be planting peas near the hotbin. The Hozelock planter on the seat now has new strawberry plants.

White currant, apple and apricot have new leaves - the currant also has flowers. Cauliflowers in 2 buckets under the plastic cloche.

The growhouse now contains 4 quadgrow pots of potatoes (Lady C) and various seedlings hardening off. Spinach in the black trough and carrots in the netted buckets. There are still a few of last year's carrots in buckets being harvested and lettuces in the tray on the floor which have been chucked outside as I am out of space indoors. Potatoes under the plastic on the raised beds.

Another view of the plastic covers over the potatoes. The strawberry plants that usually live on the shelves are currently in the cold frame. Blueberries are starting to look quite green.

Strawberries and herbs on the path. brokali, calabrese and purple kale are bolting faster than I can eat them. There are some spring cabbages at the front of the picture which are starting to grow. More cauliflowers under the plastic cloche and early peas behind the polycarbonate sheet near the fence.
