  • What greenhouse base do you have?

I'm trying to decide between paving slabs and concrete at the moment. Or gravel maybe (over weed matting)?

    Thanks
    Rachel

Trying to tame the mad thing called a garden and getting there I think!

My greenhouse isn't up yet, but when it is I'm planning on using gravel with weed suppressent underneath.

Paving slabs in the middle and pea gravel covering rubble on the edges. I place my growbags on the gravel and any pots for young seeds on the slabs. I can water down the slabs in summer when it gets very hot. Other than that I don't think thre is much difference between the two except when I stored bags of charcoal over winter. The ones on the gravel absorbed moisture so the bag split when I lifted it a couple of weeks back. The ones on the slabs were fine...

Just realised you're probably asking about building the base. For my greenhouse the base is just placed on bare earth and I put some cement on the corners. It works absolutely fine. Remember when the frame is full of glass it weighs a lot. You don't need either a poured concrete slab or flagstones. I get the odd bindweed shoot but thats easy to remove.

HI we have a slabbed border that it sits on and the greenhouse is anchored to it. and then membrane down inside so I can hopefully plant inside it this year.

Well the frame is up (still needs filling in around the bottom though!) but I have a rubble/ground bit in the middle. I have done a video which I shall try to get up later!
