  • Struggling to find a replacement piece.

    Hello all
Earlier this year I got my first allotment and a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine gave me her Greenhouse to put on there. Last weekend another friend gave me a hand taking it down and taking it to the plot with his van. This weekend I went down and somehow two pieces of the roof have gone missing. I have no idea if we did leave them behind or what but I've been searching the internet for a good while now and can't find a replacement. I don't know if I'm searching the wrong term or what, but I wonder if anybody could help me. Is there a special name for this piece that I'm missing?
I asked my friend if she knew the brand name of the greenhouse but she doesn't. I've attached a picture of the piece, hopefully somebody can help

It's the part that slopes down from the centre of the roof to the side panels and the glass rests on it.

I'd call that a Glazing bar

So would I! But I've searched that in different ways and none of the websites I've checked have one in that particular style. The bolts on the centre roof piece that runs the length of the greenhouse and the bolts on the top of the side panel slide under/into the glazing bar (you can see the gap on the right of the pic) but none of the ones I've seen are made that way. Or am I missing something? Are they universal lol?

If it will help, it isn't from an "Elite Greenhouse" as theirs has an 'arrow point on the end of the strengthening flange. I would think any section would do as a fill in. They are all a much of a muchness.

        Best wishes. Tony.

Yes, it's a glazing bar. I would ask your mate to check in his van, and also ask the friend who gave you the greenhouse if you left them there.

Its too dark for me to have a look at my GH but, as Klefti says ^^^^ they're all much the same. I've scrounged 3 GHs in the past and never noticed any difference - perhaps that's just me though

I think the technical term for that glazing bar is an astricle but whatever you do, do not google it . I was truly shocked when I did so a minute ago. I'm an innocent clearly.

Anyway, any glazing bar from any old greenhouse will do the job if it is long enough. It doesn't have to be identical to the other glazing bars. It just needs to be able to support the glass.

Thanks everyone. I did ask my friend and he said it's not there and it's not in the garden we got the greenhouse from. It's a bit of a mystery. I can't imagine anybody on the allotment moving just two pieces off my plot. I don't know lol
But if it doesn't have to be an exact copy of that piece then that should make the search for a replacement alot easier. :-)
