  • Plastic greenhouse - replacement glazing bars. Help!

I was lucky enough to find a greenhouse abandoned on the next door plot which is now on mine
The panes are thin plastic and two or three need replacing.
I inherited several huge polycarbonate sheets, double walled, that I could use. I don't think the metal frame have fixings to hold them, so I'd need to screw them to the frame.
However, if I could find the original plastic panels which are much thinner, it something similar, I'd need glazing bars. Here's one on the right hand side on the metal frame.

The glazing bars appear to snap into two grooves, as well as a lip covering the edge of the the plastic panels. They are a very pale colour so I know the photo isn't very clear..
Have you seen these before? What are they called? Its driving me batty, just because I can't seem to find that type of glazing bar!!
    Thank you in advance

Is it a Palram GH? B&Q sold a lot cheaply a few years back and they had thin, flexible, polycarb windows.

The windows look very much like what I have. I wonder if Wickes might have suggestions. They sell glazing bars like the metal frame of the greenhouse, but I can't find any bars that fit into them, nor replacement panels. Thank you VC, this has given me a better chance of finding them!

If I was in your shoes I'd use the poly-carbonate sheet and screw it on as you described - it will add a lot to the strength and rigidity of the structure and be a lot simpler/quicker to get done. If you do go for this, I'd also use washers on any screws, as the screw heads can rip through the poly-carbonate if the load isn't spread a bit.

Thank you - yes, I think the easiest option is to cut my huge panes down to size and screw them to the frame. I just hate not being able to find something and didn't want to give up lol How stubborn am I?

          Thank you!

You're welcome - I own stubborn - so no need to explain your frustration - however sometimes the easiest answer is just the easiest answer, and there's no getting round it ;-)

It's not only the easiest answer, it's also the cheapest, which is sensible, considering I'd ideally have a polytunnel instead! I can only have one of each on each plot, and a polytunnel provides so much more under cover space.

So yes, my mind is made up - nuts and bolts and large washers Thank you again!

I have several of those ?Palram GHs and I'm pretty sure they're what you have. I've "glazed" one with twinwall polycarb and normal W wire clips.
I also have 3 frames joined together and covered with debris netting as a mega fruit cage and another 3 frames joined together that I use as a bean frame.

What a good idea VC! I think there are spare bits of greenhouse frames all over the place on my site, if I start having a look around. I need to construct bean frames and lots of them. Hrmm..... that's got me thinking....

Here's the debris netting one https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...ml#post1590977

Call it a fruit cage and it doesn't count as a GH or a PT.

Oh I could definitely do that! What a good idea! I'm not sure how voracious the birds are up at my plot, but with nine trees on the plot, I'm sure I will find out!!

I found it impossible to get replacement glazing for a palram greenhouse, they have the parts they just won't sell them to you direct. The places that sell the greenhouses won't order the parts for you, they would rather sell you a new greenhouse. I eventually bought a polycarbonate panel off ebay and cut it down to fit.
