  • Photovoltaic Solar Panel inside Polytunnel

    Has anyone considered the above?

Some horti-polythene should let the radiation through (90%) that triggers the Solar Panel and I'm sure there will be a loss in efficiency but hoping that it should still work to trickle charge a Deep Cycle Battery.

I wanna keep it hidden from direct view if possible (it may give people an excuse to break into allotment) but considering my outlay, plenty secured bolts and deep posts planned if this is not a goer.

    Has anyone tried it?

I have a light powered by a small solar panel inside the tunnel. It does work - though it's not the most powerful thing in the world. You couldn't use it to work under - but you can use it to find things. If I'd thought about it better I'd have wired it up so the panel was outside but it doesn't seem to matter that much.

      Size?

What size is your panel Bachus?

Thanks for this - i'll maybe give it bash and measure the output for reference on here. Not sure I'll get 1/2 the power from the panel but it'll be well hidden. Trial and error as usual

      Cheers J

It's pretty small - about a foot square. I just wanted it for a light - which works fine for early evening - and even early night. It''s always out by the morning though.
