  • OMG Millions of little spiders!!!!!!!!!

Went to pick up my watering can from the greenhouse floor and saw attached to it a long cobweb. Took a closer look and millions of tiny yellow spiders ran in every direction.. ....what are they??????

    Spiders.....the little ones.

If they are little yellowy ones then dont worry they are garden spiders who are now hatching out everywhere.

I know this because two nests of them have hatched in my Ford Fiesta, and set up camp in the windows.

This will teach me to take my Nanas prunings home for my compost bin.

The lad next door to me had these in his chicken run and hut! Someone told him (wrongly I believe!) they were chicken mites, so he got rid of them! How???? He burnt his hut to the ground!!!

I had a spider's next in the hallway when the children were small. They'd just read Charlotte's Web at school, and as they spotted it before I did I was forbidden to get rid of it. When the spiderlings hatched they used to wander about a foot or so from the next (attached by their little threads) and as soon as there was a disturbance of any sort they all scurried back to their home nest or web. Fascinating, and fortunately I'm not scared of spiders. I would leave then alone - they don't damage plants and unfortunately most of them won't survive anyway. Spiders do a good job of trapping aphids and nasties so I usually try to avoid disturbing them.

These little yelolw spiders live outdoors and they're harmless. I would just enjoy watching them and leave them in peace.

                  Spiderlings.

Would anybody like the ones living in my car..? Would be no problem to drive round and leave them with you.

Will have to remove them soon they are getting hungry.

They are everywhere this year! I've got colonies in the greenhouse, in the shed, on my baby brassicas... I even went to the pub and found some next to where I was sitting!

Glad it's not just me they're following, though

If you want to live and thrive, let a spider run alive. They are good bugs after all.

Cutecumber, if you've got them all over the greenhouse and on your baby brassicas, I bet if you look closely you will find no trace of greenfly.

Personally, I would prefer spiders to greenfly.

I have little tiny yellow 'spiderlings' on my new strawberries - I was worried they'd destroy them but it seems not so I'll leave them in peace, unless someone here tells me they just love strawberries of course!!
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Their mouth parts are minute however. You'd have to have a much smaller bum than you have to get bitten on it by a spider LJ!
