  • I was going to buy a blowaway, but...

    Then I saw this

    https://www.gardenoasis.co.uk/garden...gro-greenhouse

Should have it in about a week. Need the space for more toms, chilies & aubergines than I can fit in my 8' x 10' greenhouse.

Thought if looked more substantial than many I've seen, & the same price as one at wilko that doesn't look as solid (am I allowed to say that?)

    Happy days!

Looks like a hybrid between a greenhouse and a Polytunnel, I don't think it would last a year on our allotment with the winds we get and how is the flap fixed to the ends, to stop the wind ripping the sides off, or making the whole thing a giant blow a way?

Granted its a lot cheaper than the Marshalls offering Marshalls Catalogue 2017 | Marshalls Seeds

Would have loved a polytunnel or another gh but can't afford one & after all the time OH spent with a jcb clearing the veg plot & putting up current gh last easter I need to wait a bit before asking him to build me one

The reviews I've read say the sides are actually quite difficult to roll up which is fine by me! It's going on vvv heavy decking made from railway pallets, & as the frame is steel & ali OH has a fine selection of heavy duty gear to attach it to. Will also only really be used in summer & have a sheltered spot we can move it to for winter....

I like the design, the frame looks like it won't dismantle & fly around the plot. I used tent pegs & bricks etc to hold my walk in blowaway down, when the wind gets in,it separates the metal posts from the base though,so although my base stayed on the patio, the rest of it was found at the bottom of my garden,so that won't happen to this one....it would be nice if the ties on things were a bit longer (to tie the plastic cover to the frame) I know there's health & safety & it might be a danger if I get tangled up in it but it's difficult to just tie a tiny bow,it would be nice to do a double bow for security,or do people do a permanent knot in them & struggle to undo them to put them away for the winter, you probably won't need to worry about that like I seem to be the plastic looks like it fits tightly in the video with those metal clips. Its good it has a vent in it to stop condensation, would be handy if blowaways had them to leave open on summer nights.

Thanks JJ. I was just going to get a normal blowaway but this seems more substantial - OH quite handy so he can do any adjustments /strengthening needed. I thought the metal clippy thing looked good as well.

Could you extend your ties - sew on extra tape or similar to make it less fiddly?

That would solve the problem,I need to do that you just reminded me one of the ties that holds the door open came off, last year I had to keep resting the flappy door on my head, thanks for the tip

How about putting a safety pin on the end of the tape and pinning them together? Or a pin on the ends of both tapes and pinning the pins to the pins?

Good Luck report back once erected - also interested in perceived durability

Will do - weather has been atrocious since it arrived. Hope it lasts - seems quite solid & apparently has a 3 year warranty but haven't read the fine print on that yet.....

It survived last night's winds - yay

Did go out and check it at 11pm in the dark and the wind and the rain. Haven't been down the garden yet but can't see my runner beans from the house - uh-oh.....
