I am finally getting a greenhouse having retired! A 6x6 is all I can fit in but I am going to cram in as much as I can! I am going to get the 4 pot Quadgrow system and would like to put 2 of these lengthwise next to each other with 4 tomatoes and 4 cucumbers would this be too close? Would I be better with just 1 x 4 pots and less plants as dont want to crowd them out. I suppose what I am asking is how close can pots be to each other, the greenhouse will get lots of sun. I have only grown bush tomatoes in the garden before so have no experience of greenhouse tomatoes. Thank you

1 x 4 quadgrow says it’s 130cm long,if that’s right two won’t fit lengthways next to each other, that would be 2 meters 60 cm or are you saying parallel next to each other? I don’t know what I’m thinking but I’d plant cucumber next to tomato then cucumber then tomato because cucumbers are narrower plants & tomato plants get a bit wide sometimes,having tomatoes next to each other,they’d probably touch each other,I don’t like my plants touching,gaps are good for airflow,leaves drying out.Location : Essex -
yes you are correct I meant parallel, so 2 pots wide in effect. And what you say about air flow was worrying me, fewer plants better quality so maybe I just stick to 4 plants, there are only 2 of us now at home so should be enough!Comment

If you had the two parallel next to each other,you could have smaller plants at the front,like balconi red tomatoes or tumbling Tom & still be able to harvest the plants behind. If the tomato plants behind are a tall cordon variety they shouldn’t interfere much & the lower branches can come off by the time they get so big. I often have double rows like you say,it can work alright

I know nothing about Quadgrows but this popped up on my feed - seems to be a reduction if you buy two sets.

How about having them at right angle to each other?
Don't forget to allow for tank if you are getting one.
If you do get tank you'll need to monitor water in troughs as I've had roots block pipes once.

I use flower buckets for my toms and space them about 2' apart - one to every pane of glass so a 6X6 GH would have 3 on each side and 1 at the far end. I might squeeze in 4 on each side and 2 at the end so 10 plants in total.
Usually, vine/cordon/indeterminate tomatoes and cucumbers are planted on the shadier side of the GH (north) and bush/determinate ones on the south. Sometimes, I grow small bush/trailing toms in a staggered row in front of the cordons.
Not saying this is the right way to do it - just what works for me.
