  • Greenhouse window query

    Hi all,
So we have just been given our first greenhouse. We had been told it was 8x6, turns outs its 8x10. Has sloping sides and a pitched roof (not sure if it has a certain tyoe name). My main query is that there are 2 odd bits on the sides. One on each. It has one area of louvers but appears to have a a slot on one panel on each side for a piece of glass to slide up and down in? Is this what this os for and what bits do i need to keep the bit of glass raised? Thanks, Ed

First I'll say hello and welcome to the vine Ed

Sorry I can't answer your question but if you could you either post a photo or a link to a similar glass panel that would help.
    Location....East Midlands.

Hi and thanks. I’ll post a picture tomorrow morning to try and show it better. I’ve also discovered I need 2 40mm x 20mm wheels for the door as the two on it are totally fused. Seems to be none standard now, any ideas as to where I can pick some up?

Please see the picture of the window above. Have tried flebay but can’t find what I’m after. Trying WD40 to loosen it up.

Your photo may not be appearing because you're new to the Forum - sorry. Can't fix it for you.
Can you find a similar one on Google images?

Yep, thats the one! Anyone any ideas? It looks like a slot for glass, we have one on each side, the others are solid bits of glass at the moment. Managed to find the wheels for the door finally, now to sort out the base and then can glaze. Can't wait!

Not seen one before but from what's in the photo could it be some sort of slide up/down arrangement ie like a sort of sash window only with a metal frame, presumably for ventilation ?

That’s what I was thinking it was just not sure if there’s a holding bit missing.

Hard to be sure exactly how it was supposed to work - if its not too much bother you could make up a trial piece to fit out of some plywood and experiment to see what other bits you might need to make it work - bit of wire to keep it hooked in place perhaps.

Do you have the louvre windows and fittings?
Just wondering whether its where the lever mechanism fits to open and close the louvres.

We have a set of louvres higher up that seem to have a different mount system. It’s very odd. Seems to be a very old design.
