  • Greenhouse gutter

Hi I'm looking for a cheap alternative for the greenhouse gutter to divert the water in the waterbutt. I was looking on eBay but for both side the pipe cost about 20pound. Considered that xmas is on the way with all the present to buy and other stuff I'm a bit short of cash so I was thinking to use what I can find around like some funnel or cut up bottle attached a piece of hose in the Waterbutt. Do you have a better long lasting idea for it?

Bottle and hose with lots of silicon sealant . I used a small milk bottle with a (washing machine) grey non kink hose. I know some grapes have some fantastic set ups.

Sarico, if you can't sort it I'm sure I have some spare greenhouse gutter fittings. Let me know & I'll post them to you.

Sarico, this is what I knocked together using some 32mm pipe & an elbow, just cut a step out of the pipe, wedge it under the gutter & silicone it in. I must give it a clean.......

Don't go to the DIY store they charge a fortune for waste fittings nip in your local plumbers merchant.

In my experience, Scr3wfix & W1ckes aren't too bad pricewise but as Potty says, a plumbers merchant should be even cheaper.

Screwfix aren't bad but even they have a trade counter where things are cheaper, trouble is the general public can't shop there.

Sorry NG I don't have accounts I pay by card and demand a further 5% off. The way the merchants look at it, better 5% off and be paid before I walk out the door than wait till the end of the month and hope to get paid.

I know it is personal preference and you are probably happy doing things as you do, but do you not even have a cash account? it allows terms to be set and you don't have to rely on numpty counter staff or those with low level access. Just a suggestion

Edit: Sorry Sarico to go off topic. As you were

I have trade accounts with every merchant I use all with my discounts set up but pay by business card on collection.

I and my buying habits are well known to say the least and when I walk in or ring a merchant I am only happy if they groan. I was taught my buying skills buy a professional buyer for a national company I worked for as a contracts manager.

Merchants know for a certainty that if I want a Worcester boiler the only way to sell it to me is to beat all their competitors on price. I don't buy cheap gear but I want the best at the best price.
