Greenhouse Glazing Options

Hello Barry and welcome. Wouldn't like to advise re the glass but expect somebody else will shortly let you know what they think. My only comment would be that YOU will have to weigh up the pros and cons regarding that extra cost as against the extra peace of mind you may well gain because of the exposure of the site. I am pondering the same question myself! I think as Sanjo says it is peace of mind. I am leaning towards toughened glass, just because I can be clumsy.

I got toughened glass in my Greenhouse and I am glad I did.

I double dug the greenhouse borders down to three feet as the soil was very compacted. Even though I was fairly careful digging I hit the glass with a spade very hard twice. I am surprised that the glass even though it was toughned did not break. So I probably saved myself some money, time and hassle.

With regard to the Eden Sherborne Greenhouse I had a look at the specifications before buying my Greenhouse this year and it looks like it has a good strong frame. However it has a hinged door and if you are looking to use the door as extra ventilation during the summer I was concerned about the wind catching the door and slamming it shut possibly breaking the glass in the process. With a sliding door you can open it as little or as much as you want without the risk of the door slamming open or shut in high winds.

I eventually went with a Rhino Greenhouse which has a strong frame and sliding doors.
