  • Greenhouse assembly question

Hi, I am putting up a greenhouse for the first time and have a couple of questions. The greenhouse is a Norfolk 1.8m Ultimate Greenhouse with plastic windows (upvc i think).

The greenhouse will have a base of concrete slabs which I have already laid. I have assembled both ends of the greenhouse and am ready to complete the frame and put it in place.

Can I assemble the frame and fix it to the base and then put the window and roof panels in the next day or is it best to do it all in one day?

Any other advice would be welcome too as this is my first time doing this.

    Thank you

Assemble frame and fix, leave the glazing for the next calm day that comes along If your garden is in a windy position, it is probably worth fixing the plastic 'panes' in place with silicone, so that they don't keep popping out when it's gusty

I'd say leave the glazing until another day as its not a job to do when you are tired - one thing you might consider once the frame is up is to put in some temporary cross braces etc (using canes or whatever) to keep the frame square and vertical until its fully glazed - the plastic windows will help it keep the proper shape when they are in, but its best to start as near to perfect as possible.

I'd probably run a level around the base bars too to check for horizontal, and put a couple of shims in if anything is off - depends on how picky you are about these things.

I'd drill for the bolting down and put the bolts in loose, but not tighten anything up until the glazing is completed.
