NEW! 4.5M (14.5FT) POLYTUNNEL POLY TUNNEL GREENHOUSE

I know they look like they wouldn't stand up to a small child blowing on them, never mind winter winds but unless the boss gives me a very large Christmas bonus (and let's be honest, it's not likely), this is all me and H can afford.

So does anyone have a polytunnel of this sort? The slot together a la mini greenhouse type.

Just looking for feedback and comments from those that do please.

brought one of these in summer and they are terrible lasted 2 weeks before totally wrote off. I weighed it down heavily but this was not the problem. The poles inside are so fragile they just bend and snap. Couldn't even stand up to the winds in summer. I ended up doing the DIY tunnel, search it on here there's several different designs,

I agree with KK. Do a search & you will find some great designs for self made tunnels.

i've got one in it's 3rd year ... first year it ended up blowing all over the place, as we are right at the top of a very windy hill .......... this year i dug into the ground and buried the flaps under soil in a trench, and despite a couple of poles which had snapped previously, it's still up ....... i reinforced all the joints in the poles with sticks and duck tape ..... the plastic is strong as it's reinforced, but if it flies away, it is likely to rip ..... the cover needs to be fitted tightly so theres no wobble.

but now i know about the burying .... i'd definitely get another .... it does it's job

I have a coldframe made from this plastic and it hasn't stood the test of time - the green mesh stayed intact but the clear plastic in between has dropped out leaving little square holes all over!

              Hi The Nichols,

I had one for this summer and to be fair I was happy with it. I pegged it down and also covered the flap with scaffold boards.

That said it finally gave in last week but given the wind I wasn't surprised (should have taken it down earlier!).

I dismantled the structure as it was and it looks ok for next year.

Please see the post and picture I posted! Not sure how to attach a pervious post?

I bought one last spring, same size, has lasted okay but last lot of gales snapped all the middle joints doen one side. I repaired with haly inch dowel, so far so good. It still ahs a bit of a drunken lean (don't we all)!

I looked them up again recently and they seem to be selling a better grade of tubing and better instructions on setting them up (was going to say erecting but....).

I think if you can put it somewhere shelteredish and trench it in you will be okay, this is not a guarentee!

One other thing, condensation was a problem you do need to keep on top of the ventilation.

                Hope this helps.
