  • Dismantling a greenhouse

A friend has offered me his 10x7' wooden framed greenhouse for my allotment, so we need to dismantle, transport, and erect. I've read the posted advice on building GH; any advice on dismantling??

I believe that most dismantle and move threads have been about aluminium framed greenhouses.

The only advice I can offer is to be very very careful, as wood is more likely to break when you attempt to take the frame apart.

Watch out for any rot and hidden fixings, nails or screws.

Glass is likely to be held in using either putty or glazing strips of wood tacked in with brads. Putty can be removed with a putty-knife or an old wood chisel, beware there are probably little fixing nails in there as well. Glazing strips can be prised off with an old chisel or screwdriver.

    Good luck.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.
