Condensation

I'd be interested here too Becka as I don't know. I thought the idea was that you should clear it to stop the seedlings from going manky, but then isn't the condes#nstaion valuable water? My cloches outside get consdenation during the day and clear at night but my plants under there seem really happy and are putting on tonnes of growth..

This year I didn't clear the propogator lids and I got seedlings fine. Maybe though I would have had more if I had cleared them off....?

I was told by a more senior gardener than myself to take the covers off the propogator each day and shake the beads of moisture off them, then replace the covers, and have always done this since. My seeds and seedlings generally speaking are healthy and germinate in sufficient high percentages to keep me from changing, but then contrary to all advice given, I also water all my seeds and seedlings, in fact everything, with rainwater from storage butts.

I take the lids of mine too and shake the water off them and also only use water from water butts - I'm too lazy to walk up to the house to fill the can's up

As well as being lazy, OH is not amused when I start to wander in and out from the garden, so now I don't bother - but really must get an outside tap fitted this year

As my propagator is in the guest room and can't pour it off anywhere, I just pour the condensation back onto to the base of the propagator instead of watering the base. Hasn't seemed to harm anything so far.
