  • Ahhhhh,, Red spider

This morning I discovered red spider mite on the Aubergines. Any suggestions as to what I can do about them. I don't want to use chemicals.

    Thanks

      Just giving this a 'bump'.

Done a bit of G00gling and come up with this. Spray with a mixture of 1 gal water, 2 tablespoons cooking oil and the same soft soap.

Another one, 1tsp cayenne or hot chilli sauce, 2 pints water and a little soap. Mix together leave over night and strain then spray.

Or, Half a ltr warm water 10-20ml essential oil. Shake well and spray. The oils recommended, neem, eucalyptus, lemon, cinnamon, peppermint, Rosemary, chrysanthemum or thyme. The smellier oils at 10ml and the less smellier 20ml to the water. Should make the greenhouse smell sweet!!

Anyone tried these? I have used the first one today as it seemed less harsh and I didn't have the essential oils. They won't kill the b*****s but are supposed to control them. They all need to be used frequently for the best effect.

Just wondered how the neem oil worked BM? The results of the oil, soap and water spray. Sprayed every other day and it has controlled them. New gowth looks much healthier. Three of them, the worst affected, I put outside and stopped spraying them and they showing signs of recovery.
