  • 2nd hand greenhouse without guttering channels.. help needed.

My dear fellow grapes, the time has come for me to ask for your assistance.

I am currently in the position of dismantling a 6x6 greenhouse from my bosses garden, and a bit later in the year, when I've made room will be re-building it in my garden.

It's quite old, but it does not have the fitted guttering channels the more modern ones have.

I need to collect the rainwater as this greenhouse will house my Carnivorous plant collection.

The attached photo shows the side, please ignore the temporary bit of guttering as its gone.

Has anybody ever invented a way of fitting guttering to the side of an aluminum greenhouse that is straight forward for a non-DIY numpty to create...?

Might you be able to use this? Two Wests - Please enable your cookies

I don't know if you'll have a flat enough surface to stick it to though, or if the glazing bars will be too lumpy?

Sounds a bit extreme I know but howabout:- Lay a concrete path along the outer edge with a slight slope towards the end. Sink the water butt into the soil so the tops at ground level.
As all water, with the aid of gravity will eventually make its way to the bottom, all water would then be channeled to the water butt!................or not!!!!

On our house we have those hanging basket brackets attaching the guttering to the house - could that work? Wire them on to the metal maybe?
