    When we came here a few years ago the guy next door told us about the way he grew tomatoes.
    You make a trench in the greenhouse - line it - cover it with gravel - buy ring culture pots - fill them with compost containing your tomato plant water it. From then on you water the gravel around the pot apart from feeding. We have found this works really well because you don't overwater. I know I am more than likely telling you all something you already know - but it works for us - incidentally last year instead of buying ring cultures - used old plastic pots - cut the bottoms out .

    Yes, ring culture is common practice, for when greenhouse soil can't be changed regularly, so plants stop being productive/or in greenhouses built on paving.

    For now I'm planting in pots sunk into the border soil, as the greenhouse was moved last year and the soil is still ok for growing in.
