  • Splitting Onion Bulbs

    Some of my onions have split into two with stems growing from both. Does anybody have an answer?

    hi lizzy soz don't have an answer but some of mine have gone the same it's the first time iv'e grown the from seed maybe just been to wet

      Shallots do this regularly. Onions I'm not sure about, but if they're still growing well leave them to it. You should still get useable bulbs.

        A shallot/onion hybrid which would be a shallonion or a onshallion?

          Hi Lizzy,
          I have a couple that have done this as well but they seem healthy enough so I'll just let them get on with it. I grew mine from sets - variety Jagro (well, all are Jagro except for two which appear to be red onions, or possibly a throwback to whatever parentage Jagro has.)
