  • pots for jackets?

hello there, i started small last year and beginners luck gave me real success with growing potatoes in containers. i got a couple of bags of seed spuds from b and q to start me off and only regret was not getting more. Only thing i couldn't find out was perfect type to plant for producing jacket sized potatoes. If anyone has a suggestion i'd be grateful. thanks. ZF

I'd suggest Pentland Dell as perfect jacket spuds - a good size (for a greedy peep, actually!), and fluffy when baked.

The only thing is, mine were grown direct in the soil at the Hill and not in containers, so if you are doing them in containers, they wouldn't likely not be as big.

Winston is another good variety for bakers, they are a perfect oval shape and smooth skinned. Nice prepared other ways too and work quite well in containers.
