  • Potatoes for containers

This is for container growers in the midlands .
I was in Dobbies garden centre on the Kenilworrth road at Balsall Common this afternoon and noticed that they was selling Seed potatoes for 25p each ideal if you only need a few there was about 8 different varietys all scotch seed of course .
They had the usual 3kg bags as well but if you only want half a dozen the rest is a waste..jacob

Hi Jacob, is it a little bit early?
What varieties did they have? Am watching this space this year as i don't have a garden to grow my spuds in this year so its going to be container growing only.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I am trying to make an 'eat your own garden'. Limited space means that container potatoes are for earlies only. I then use the space for something else. At the moment I am storing samples of tatties I have enjoyed from local shops. 'Smile' and Red King Edward so far. My efforts in the past have been a bit dismal with only a couple of pounds from each plant. Suggestions would be welcome.
