  • For people in the Reading area.. surplus veg for posh nosh!

There is a restaurant in Reading Called Mya la carte which offers to swop 10 kg of surplus veg for a voucher for a meal for two (not including drinks!). Haven't been myself but have heard it's good and they've one awards.

Come June I may be traipsing through there door with 10kg of new spuds!

"Being a local produce restaurant, your home grown fruit and veg is invaluable to us. We know some of you harvest far more than is possible to palm off to friends and family. Mya Lacarte wants your surplus. For every 10 kilos of produce we will give you a Mya Daily meal for 2 excluding drinks. Your Mya Daily is redeemable from 12 to 7pm Monday through to Friday. The produce must be grown locally and be of some use in the Mya kitchens. Other than these, there are no criteria, just bring it in or call us"

Oooh, I must have missed this!
Incidentally the lady who runs Mya La Carte is currently appearing in "The Apprentice".
I think her name is Yasmina, or something very similar.

Yep she's back in the restaurant which I think means she hasn't won - though the Evening Post have got a campaign going!

I have a friend who knows her and she said she gets to the last two... then they have to record endings for either situation.
So she may well have won... or come second!

After seeing her on the catering task I'm not sure I'd want to eat there!! Buying the cheapest ingredients because the customers won't notice after a few glasses of wine...

That's interesting to know, must be how they keep it quiet, always wondered how it never got leaked!

Oh how I wish you had kept the apprentice news to yourself, or posted an apprentice spoiler warning in the title.

I know you haven't given the winner away, but you've certainly narrowed the field down!

(Unless you've made it up, and it's a double bluff?)

Seems like you got that a bit wrong. I would imagine they don't start work with Sugar until after the final or it would give the game away.

P.S. she shouldn't have won, Kate was much better

Actually it's something of an open secret that both finalists work for Sir Alan from the end of initial filming to just before the final broadcast, which is when they hear which one has won. Of course this raises the question of how much the final task influences his decision, and how much is down to his assessment of their performance in the temp job.
