  • Lidl forthcoming offer - fruit bushes

Whilst browsing on the lidl website I noticed that they are doing an offer starting next week for 3 fruit bushes for £2.49. They say...

    3 per pack
Choose from Blackcurrant Redcurrant or Raspberry
Plant now for fruit next spring

There are also offers on Cyclamen, conifers and Rhododendron.

Been digging a new bed for them today. Bought some last year and they did produce fruit, so fingers crossed for this time

Apple Tree: Are you hinting my apples aren't what they ought to be?
Scarecrow: Oh, no. It's just that she doesn't like little green worms!

Most of the cheapie shops should be getting there hard and soft fruit trees in soon.
Some people call them but I have a mini orchard and loads of soft fruit bushes at my allotment, all from cheapie shops.
You usually don't get the varietal name for soft fruit ...............but at these prices who gives a jot!

Completely agree Snadger. We picked up some great trees from Asda and Tesco this year for £4 each. No fruit yet, but we look forward to it.

IT is a bit hit and miss though!!

The blueberries I got from cheapie shops are ok (wilko's & lidl), not great but ok.The wilko's one was marginally better than the lidl one.

The cherry tree I bought as a sapling from lidl is now looking dangerously close to death in year 2 and I'm tempted to hoik it out.

            The raspberries were good

I much prefer British blackcurrants to eat than these new fangled tetchy American blueberries anyway! (Now someone is going to come on and say blackcurrants originated in some God forsaken foreign land!)
