  • Home made cold frame/lean to greenhouse

    Hi All
Was walking past a house the other day when i noticed a double bed being dumped in the skip. Took a closer look inside the material covering and found it had a perfect lightweight frame that was begging to be turned into a cold frame etc. Knocked on the door and was told by all means take it!. Given a few odd looks though. But got it home and with a little plastic sheeting tacked on the outside I now have 2 2ft by 6ft frames to bring my seeds along in.

There has got to be loads of other uses up the allotment... Any ideas?

    Hi Martin
I have done the same, I am just waiting to treat the frame with some wood preserver and should last long time ( my comes from a two seater sofa ). I may increase the height of it and with some netting would be ideal for the caggage family.

I did the same when we bought a new single bed. I took the outer covering off and dismantled the frame for ease of transport. Reassembled it on the lottie and covered it in pond netting. I use it to keep cabbage whites off my brassicas.
