  • Cover for Mugs

When out side especially at my allotment my mug of coffee always ends up with bugs etc floating on the top, I have bought mugs with little saucers that fit on top for other people but not for myself. Today I put a piece of kitchen roll on top and to stop it blowing off I put a cd on top, just the right size too. perfect.

I tend to sit outside and look at the work I have done ( admire ) trouble is I tend to get up and wander around leaving my drink behind or get up and do a bit more and come back to my drink full of bugs and things.

how about one of those travel mugs with a sip/seal mouth bit on it. they come in thermos too so your brew will stay warm

i use them in work all the time as i am never off the phone and got sick of spilling my brew and never getting to drink a hot one.

        Hope that helps

I drink pints of lime juice and water at the lottie. I've had all sorts fall in the glass, including leaves off my grapevine, slugs, potting compost etc etc etc.
Now all i do is make sure I drain the glass each time!

the plastic tops off of pringles containers fit some of our mugs so well you can turn them upside down when full.try lids from resealable tins of cornflower/gravy powder etc, take the lids into the supermarket and try them on the mugs to get a good fit
no more bugs or knocked over cups, you can even drive to the lottie with a cup and never spill it.

I got something very similar from Boots a couple of Christmas' ago but they were about a fiver. Plus with their buy three get one free pressies offer I got them for about £3.30 each - bargain!

I got them all as little Chrimbo pressies for family as I didn't have a garden at the time so I'm still on the lookout!

I have been known to potter about in the garden of an evening accompanied by a glass of red, never had guano in it, but plenty of bugs. All I do now is use an old seed packet (large size) opened up and popped over the top of the glass. I then 'scrunch' it round the rim to make it fit, and just take it off when I want a sip!

My (disgusting) Dad, just drinks the bugs, saying that it adds to his meat ration!

                          That's a great idea, thanks.

I have just been to test some of our mugs and they all seem to be too big for the lids but I found a couple of slimline ones that I shall keep for outside use.
