  • Can I pick your brains?

Hi All, and apologies in advance to the moderators for probably posting in the wrong section,

A guy at work recently lost his 13 year old daughter and I'm trying to come up with flowers/veg with the name "rebecca louise" with, so far, no joy.

    Can anyone help?

    Regards,

    John.

Garden plants - PlantFiles - your plant identification database

Sorry to hear of the sad loss, if you try this link you may find what you are looking for. A search for 'Rebecca' comes up with a host of names. I hope you find something suitable.

      The next step....

Brilliant site - thanks for the quick reply. Apparently, there's just one type of plant with the name, "Rebecca Louise", and that's Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Rebecca Louise'

Don't suppose anyone can enlighten me as to where I could buy such a plant?

      Cheers,

      John.

I've just had a look on the RHS Plant Finder Data base for you, but it appears nobody is selling it at the mo.

Thats only nurseries who subscribe to the Database. There are loads of others, just will be harder to find.

As Davesgarden is a U.S. site, some things on that site may not be available on this side of the pond. You may have to look towards U.S suppliers and get it shipped over, but thers's no harm in contacting plant sellers and asking if they can source it ex catalogue.

not sure if there is actually a plant as it says it is "tentatively" accepted - no pics either.

And that one's a Fuchsia, same name, different plant. The Hibiscus john20463 found may be an 'American' name for a known plant in this country with a different name. I think it's a difficult task to track it down.

In a book I have 'The Checklist of Species, Hybrids and Cultivars of the Genus Fuchsia' by Leo B Boullemier, I think c. 1991.

He lists a fuchsia variety Rebecca Louise. It was raised in the vicinity of Almondbury, Huddersfield, Yorkshire.

I can try to do some detective work, but fuchsia varieties tend to be short lived, and if it's not on the RHS Plant Finder List, you are pretty much looking for a needle in a haystack.

I dont know if this site is of any use but you could email them as they have a lot of different varieties of fuchsias and they are very helpful and friendly.
