How I got on in Italy this summer

This year a neighbour kindly offered to plough a piece of land with his tractor to extend our vegetable plot by about 4 times the original size. I grew a succession of the normal things, but one of the problems was that as we camped there for 4 months and did not have a freezer or a good kitchen I couldn't save the food and so we had to eat it immediately.
We had lots of everything as the weather was very hot. My best producer was the lemon crystal cucumbers, we got over a 100 cucumbers from 4 plants. Also the borlotti beans were excellent.

We turned over another piece of rough land and planted around 100 laventer plants. The grapes were very prolific and increased our yield so the production of wine doubled again this year. We discover in the far corner some white grapes and made white wine for the first time.

My husband had a dramatic battle with a huge snake one day in the garden and I had to be constantly vigilant against black scorpions which seemed to like my bedroom best of all.
