  • Miserly practise

Normally grow yellow courgettes but got a pack of green for a bit variety.
Got Astia from Wilko at £1.50 "average contents 6 seeds".
They are resistant to powdery mildew.
It irks me, only 6 seeds and they probably won't all germinate.
To rub salt in the wound there were only 5 seeds, miserly b%$£@&#$.
I think I might go in and have a rant.

Look on the bright side - they were only £1.50 in Wilkos. You could have bought them from another supplier and paid a lot more - and, the slugs would still eat them.

Get another pack. It might have seven seeds! £1.50 is cheap.

I think five courgette plant would be enough for anybody!

Five out of my six have germinated. Need to find somewhere on the plot to plant them now

Pre-germinate them on damp kitchen roll. There's a very good chance they will all germinate.

Look on the bright side Jimmy...you would still be waiting if you ordered them from T&M

Was in town (for a beer) so took them in. They gave me a new pack. Also took a pack of peas of which only 2 germinated. They replaced those also.
Well it did have a gold seal on the back of the pack saying germination guaranteed.

Think I have found the secret to 100% [or nearly] germination. Simply plant twice as many as you need and they all will come. Plant what you need and only half come.

The other way to ensure 100% germination is to get some-one to give you some seeds of a plant you don't want, and dutifully sow them so you can give an honest answer to the inevitable "did you try .... ?" question.
