  • Another sweet corn question

Any ideas as to what is going on with my sweet corn, it seems to be producing side shoots that look like this, there are cobs on the rest of the plant

It's malformed, happens a lot with sweetcorn, nothing you can do about it. Most of the other cobs should be ok, though

Thanks, should I cut it off?

Just ignore it, it won't do any harm and may help some lower cobs with pollination.

Is it a male tassel coming through then, Thelma?

It looks to me like a tassel and a cob growing from the same place - like some kind of mutant.

I had a lot of these a couple of years ago when I grew the variety Incredible. Don't know what variety the OP is growing.
