  • Unripe cherries...

We've had high winds here and a lot of cherries have been blown off the tree.
They're supposed to be back cherries- but these which have dropped off are at various stages of orange to red- so almost ripe.
My question is - will these make good jam?

I made black cherry jam last year and didn't know about adding lemon juice so it was disgustingly sweet . So I wondered if maybe these not quite ripe cherries ( no real flavour tbh) would make a nice jam- maybe mixed with some other fruit- or are they only fit for composting???

    Any suggestions welcome!

Don't know whether it would taste good, but I can't see that it would do anyone any harm....
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

      Hi there!

hmm...as you say, I'm sure most fruit is 'jamable'- but with what resultant flavour??

Maybe I should add some spices??...but I've no idea what goes with cherries...we've just eaten over 1lb- and they were tasteless- but very juicy
