i have a three year old plant can i dig it up and cut the roots up to grow more cuttings from it thanks june

You can't take root cuttings, but you could divide the crown if you're careful. You will need at least one bud per section. Troubled Times: Asparagus

According to the link around now - did you click on the link? It is an American article, but "fall" is the same as Autumn. You could lift your plant and have a good look at it to make sure it is big enough to divide. If not, then simply re-pot it.
