Ripen Aubergines?

Hi

This is my first year with a GH and its been great. Lots of toms, cucs, chillies and peppers but my aubergines are still not ripe. They were italian variety - Melanzana Violetta di Firenze. The packet doesnt show them to be as deep purple as 'normal' but mine are still only vaguely purple. Will they ripen or is it too late now?

We eat ours from when they're 'grown' ie if they've got to a couple of inches but the weather changes or they have to be picked...they are edible as soon as, as far as I know. Sort of like spuds...
