    Pears in red wine?
Just peel them, and simmer, in er, red wine. With a bit of brown sugar. Yummy

You could try what I did - get up on Saturday morning with loads of good intentions to deal with several buckets of windfall pears, and keep getting distracted until Monday, when you find the whole lot eaten by something/rotting in the bottom.

That used them up pretty quickly.

Otherwise, there's a recipe for pear honey on this forum somewhere which is fab and would suit your ripe ones a treat.

I'm not sure there is anything you can do with over-ripe pears except make some wine with them- sorry Northepaul!

Make Pear Honey - I used every pear I could get this year to make it - dead simple and totally delish

Remove blossom end from fruit and quarter - no need to peel etc. Place in a pan and just cover with water. Bring to the boil and simmer til fruit is disintegrated (you can speed this up by using a potato masher )
Drain through a jelly bag overnight.
For every pint of juice, add 3/4 lb granulated sugar. Bring sugar and juice mix to the boil then simmer until you have a syrup the consistency of runny honey. Pot into sterilised jars.

Peel and core- microwave and serve with a big blob of ice cream- sprinkled with cinnamon and grated chocolate. Simples

If you put enough topping on, would you be able to eat them like that??

Or...mix with apple and some red fruit ( ? from freezer) and make a crumble

Pears and chocolate ( ?sauce?) always go well together!!!

Go to "River Cottage" and have a look at Hugh's Pear Cake. I can recommend it.

I made another of HFW's almond and pear cakes, as at least I know everyone will eat it.

I will try some pear honey one day, it sounds lovely
