  • Mildew on pumpkins & Courgettes

I haven't been down the allotment for about two weeks as it has rained constantly. Managed to get down today and was disappointed to see my pumpkin and courgettes covered in powdery mildew and looking rather dead.

Some plants look beyond help, but have large unripe pumpkins. Will these still ripen? What should I do about the remaining plants that are still alive but covered in mildew?

It often happens but usually they thrive. You can cut off and remove the worst lower leaves but they should be ok. I always get it and they are usually fine.

yep we had this last year but still got 20 pumpkins so don't worry. Cut the worst affected leaves off and burn.
