I have three rhubarb plants, one has lovely long stems, I especially grew it from seed, from a plant that had amazingly long stems and I was thinking about winning the local shows rhubarb section with it. It's now of age and it has those long stems, but every year all my plants seem to start off at this time with perfect stems and as the year progresses, they seem to get like a sort of scab on the stalks, which makes it impossible to enter them in the show.
OK it's not the end of the world and it's not really really important to me. But I'd still like to know what, if anything I am doing wrong?
