  • Flowering Cherries

I have three Flowering Cherries, about 12ft high, which in their youth were chewed by Horses! The result is that they are now bushes and I need to prune them in order that I can cut the grass under them and improve their shape.

I know that that they must only be cut at a certain time of year. Does anyone know when that is?

You are only supposed to prune when there are leave on them, a disease called silver leaf can otherwise affect them. Not sure how hard and fast this rule is, I have pruned in winter with no ill effects.

Thanks folks, looks like I should leave it until next year!
