  • Wanted for school gardening club

    Hi,
It's a long shot I know but my daughter's school is starting a gardening club for the kids & they're looking for things to plant. They'd be happy with anything really, they just want to get the kids interested in growing things;as opposed to buying things from the supermarket. If anyone would like to donate anything it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading & hope to hear from someone.

I have loads of spare seeds. Just tell me what you are looking for and I should be able to send them. No problem.

I've got a spare pack of cauliflower (all year round) and tomatoes (sub artic plenty). You're welcome to these, its really important for kids to get interested in where food comes from.

              Daineal,
              Welcome to the vine.
As a new gardener myself i do not have any spare seed. But have seen and purchased some great seed collections in our local pound shops. I live in Coventry too and saw them in the shops today. There are around 6 different varieties in a pack so great for children.
They also do beans with 2 varieties in each pack.
              Great price.
              Good luck with the club.
Our primary school also have a gardening club to encourage the little ones. A very important project.
Do you grow your own too at home?!

                Hi Vicky,

Thanks for the welcome & advice.I was in town yesterday too but didn't have time to look in the £1.00 shop.Next time I'm in I'll have a look. We've only just started planting at home too but so far have only planted pumpkin seeds saved from Halloween.I'll be surprised if they grow but you never know!
                Best Wishes,

I've popped the Cauliflower and tomato seeds in the post. I also found a pack of round courgette seeds.

Hope the kids have fun with these.

hello Tracey, Sending Candytuft, Red Hot Poker, Basil and Mange Tout Pea real soon, Mange Tout - great for kids and very healthy, they'll love it. No need for SAE. A great idea if you can get them even more Sugar Snap or Mange Tout Pea, for them all to eat daily...
                    Best Wishes
                    Happy Growing

                        Hi there
Will send you the rest of the meteor broad beans I have as promised, but it occured to me that it would be worth suggesting to the school to contact HDRA Garden Organic at Ryton on Dunsmore, if they haven't already done so. I know they do schemes for schools to participate in and they are on your doorstep at Ryton on Dunsmore. They have great facilities for kids on site including 'The Vegetable Kingdom' - a really cool interactive display room. They may even offer the school some seeds to try.... can't be sure of that, but worth a try. The link is:

All at once I hear your voice
                        And time just slips away

Hi Daineal, I would suggest contacting some of the seed companies - they're always looking for good publicity (and some of them actually care). They may offer you a selection of seeds for the children to trial.

What school in Coventry are you at Daineal?
I work in several primary schools in the area.
Keresley Grange have a gardening club you could contact them for some advice.
