  • Wanted: Red Centiflor Tomato

Thought I'd post this as it's one tomato I'd really like to try, and incase someone has them but isn't reading any swap threads

Would like to try these for next year, really am after the red ones - but realseeds won't be getting any more in stock (boo!).

If any of you are growing them, would you mind saving me some seed please? [Or if you have any of the seed? - only after a few].

Happy to swap if you're after anything, or will send an SAE.

    Thanks.

I may be able to help you Chris. I have about 5 seeds left in the pack and I think I might have a plant growing somewhere. I wasn't that crazy about them, they were nice enough but nothing special, you may feel differently though. You do get loads of toms though. I'm also growing the yellow centiflor one which is supposed to be tastier. Don't think I have many seeds left but if they fruit ok I could save you some of those if your interested. I had quite a few fail I think, they started off quite weedy and pathetic and nearly all had the seed casing attached. Dunno if that was my fault or naff seeds. I'm going down t'lotment in a bit so will let y know if I do infact have a plant growing (can't remember which ones didn't make it).

Thank you Shadylane - realseeds will have the yellows back in stock, but not the reds.

That'd be great if you could, but no worries if not! What would you like in return? I have a few (probably 2/3) black cherry, 2/3 again of green sausage, most likely sun golds, golden sunrise, and I think some red cherry seeds tomato wise (oh, and the dreaded moneymaker!).

I have some of the original gardeners delight strain coming soon (should be here next week).

Also have some winter radish, that's not used like a radish at all (Weiner Runder Kohlschwarzer, again from realseeds) coming in the delivery. That's probably the only excitable things I have, a few chillies (have some bolivian rainbow seeds - only a few maybe around 4 but they were nice, compact and packed a bit of a punch). Erm, loads of the usual stuff Anything you after?

Ooh thanks for the offer Chris, maybe sungold or sunrise - haven't tried them yet - but only if you have spare. I had a look in the cheapo poly and no red centiflor but I may have one at home (the label pixies have been at it again). It's deffo a centiflor but not sure which colour but I have a feeling it's a red. If so I'll send you a load, if not you're welcome to the ones I have left and some yellow ones assuming they succeed. Shall I pm you once they've ripened? Could be a while, these ones are a bit behind, flower bud stage at the mo. I'm sure I won't but if I forget please remind me.
        Cheers

Yes, sure a PM would be fine.

I'll have more golden sunrise definately (planning on saving some seed from them) - the ones in the packet look a bit furry (but germinate fine..). Sungolds, yep no problem - I'll ear mark you a few. There's not many in the packet (f1's) but happy to share some, they're supposed to taste amazing.

Some of the centiflor would be great either way

          Thank you!

I've got some Red Cluster Pear from The Real Seed Catalogue if you want Chris. First time growing them. Trusses look very impressive, but only a few tiny green tomatoes thus far. I only sowed 5 from the pack so should have a good few left.

Would happily swap some for your green sausages.

I wasn't sure if I had a plant growing as the label had been buried, but I found it and it is in fact a red centiflor. Won't be ready for a bit yet. If you get enough off mrb I'll just send y the yellow ones or you can have both - up to you. I'll be in touch anyways

Just Noticed this post. I'm sure I have some red centiflor left from last year, but there in the GH so I'll check later. TBH I found them a nuisance, there are so many toms, that you cant get to them, but the trusses look magnificent, but they do get in the way if your pushed for room

I didnt save any seeds, cos I wont be growing them again, unless I inherit a market garden greenhouse!
