  • WANTED: Black tomatoes

I'm thinking I 'need' some more black toms! Does anyone have any Black Prince seeds, or a similar medium-sized black tomato to swap? (not PW's French black as I have those already.)

To swap for other tomato or chilli/pepper seeds.
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower

I've got the following if you'd like a few
    Black Cherry
    Black Krim
    Black Prince
Black Spanish (don't know what these really are, my Mum collected them from a black tomato she bought in Spain)

Hi FHG, I'd like some Black Prince please. Be interested to see how your Spanish Black grows.

What would you like as a swap? Toms/chillies/peppers/aubs and I've lots of stuff like carrots & lettuce? What are you after?

Well I've found some! But they do have to be in the greenhouse.

              Black Prince plants

SmallBluePlanet. Here's a picture of my plants. The ones I've sent are from the pointy bottomed ones

Both plants were Black Prince from the same packet. As you can see, pretty big and quite variable!

I have some I can send you from the HSL, called Noir. I've not grown them.

In the catalogue, it says "'Indeterminate. Cordon. Also donated to HSL by John Yeoman, this variety produces large, sweet flavoured, dark red fruit with green shoulders."

I contacted John to ask him about them, and he told me:
My records say: 'Lovely sweet flavour. Red with dark green shoulders - almost black. A rare and decorative novelty.' I vaguely recall it looked like a smaller version of Cherokee Purple, but was not as ugly. It came to me in 2002 from Mandy Sayer in Switzerland.

Thanks for the offer, they sound interesting but FHG is sending some so maybe next year - I daren't take any more atm as I've no more room.
