  • Named mixed salad leaves

    Lunching at my Mums the other week she introduced me to a bag of posh mixed salad. YUM YUM !!!! Some leaves I didnt recognise but many I had some seeds of and just need to harvest when they are young for the effect. I would love to complete the effect so hope someone can send me some for an SAE or I can let you know what seeds I have far too many of and I will be happy to send you loads.

    The seeds I dont have are;

    Lambs Lettuce
    Red Oak
    Red Batavia

    Hope someone can help me acheive my fab mixed bowl

    Tammy I just use a variety called salad bowl, just cut and come again, dont think I have any left tho. This year I mixed my seeds myself so I could sow them all together ( well some ). They are nearly big enough to harvest but have pulled up the muzzina ( sp ) as it has lots of little holes in the leaves.
    Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
    and ends with backache

      Tam, I have some lambs lettuce, I am happy to share the pack with you as it seems pretty full. Pm me your address and I'll pop some in the post.
      I don't have any seeds of the others but B&Q do plug plants of mixed lettuce with red oak being one of them. I have some growing at the plot and they're looking really good. I think it was £1.50 for about 12 plants of 3 different varieties.

        I have tried the mixed salad before and its good but nothing like the variety I could get by mixing my own.

        Thanks - will PM you and will try to get to B&Q when the girls are better

              Unfortunately not - someone here was swapping a spicy mix though - I was recommending it to mrbadexample.. if that person has more than 1 pack, may be worth a punt?

              I really should get some again though, it really does make the salad, leaf wise imho!

              edit: here's the link - http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...pls_58222.html, but MBE may have them on the way to him.
