I'd like to get in on this. I'm a bit of a seed hoarder and would like to start saving more of my seed. I have walking stick kale that is currently flowering and will go to seed soon. I'd like to collect seed from that. I will probably have lots of different squash seeds. I'm growing lots of different things this year but it will depend on what grows well.

The more the merrier. Keep an eye out that no other brassicas are flowering (especially any large fields of rape seed ). Again squash will need isolating. It sounds faffy but it can get rather addictive. Any probs just say

I'm surrounded by fields but no brassicas or rape seed growing luckily. I grow most of my squash together on the patio so I will have to use the hand pollination method. I can also grow some in the fields at the back of the house but I'm guessing bees can travel quite far. What distance would i need between squashes?

^^^I use wedding favour bags and bag the flowers in the evening then hand pollinate in the morning. Keep the bag on till the flower dies and job done. Distance becomes less of an issue that way.

I went on YouTube and watched this video on squash seed saving.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WviRwfnvkec it can be helpful to actually see someone else do it. I feel more confident about it now. I might still stick some random squash plants elsewhere just because I can.
