I've got two German red strawberry toms with pink string round the stem. So I don't pick them till they are very ripe. Then I will be studying the real seeds how to page. Probably next week.
If they don't have enough seeds. I'll be trying Indian moon.

When I pick mine I stick them in a plastic cup to let them ripen some more- either in the GH shelf or on the kitchen windowsill.

When they are soft, burst them with your fingers and squeeze the contents out into the cup. Sometimes lots of seeds are still attached to the skins so I leave them in the cup as well. You can chop them up with a knife if you prefer!

Then top the cup up with water and leave them on your window sill.
After a couple of days the skins form a mould in the top. Get a spoon in there and mash them around - I do like mess!

Top up with more water. At this point you can gently pour some of the skin/pulp away. The seeds may still be covered in pulp but they should sink to the bottom.

Top up and drain off 2 or 3 times leaving a bit of water in the bottom so that you donít throw your seeds away. Eventually the water will be clear and the mould/pulp/skins will be gone.

Check the seeds left, if they still have some pulp around them, top up again and leave for another day.

Next day pour off the water and dry the seeds on a plate.

Donít leave them in the GH or in the water too long as they can start to germinate in the warmth.

    1.Further Ripening in the bowl
2.In water -the whole tomato chopped up -skin and pulp and rubbish will float to the top.
3.Skin and pulp poured off. Topped up with clean water and left for another day.

    Itís really easy.

I have some Livingston's Favourite fermenting at the mo. Need the seeds from these to save enough for the Circle.

Picked & set my True Black Brandywine to ferment today and the Oleron Yellow were last week. There should be plenty of seeds and I’m looking forward to the range of seeds to come.

To be honest I am struggling with a second variety....#note to self - never go on holiday in March. Son not only didn’t water, he also moved my seedlings away from the window so he could open it for the dog to go and come as he pleased - as he he played Xbox!!

Can we have an early show of hands as to who is saving what....or even hoping to save. Just so we know roughly how many of us are still in the circle

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
