  • Your own produce for the festive cooking?

I was wondering what home gown produce you are planning to use over the next few days?

We have peas, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, raggedy kale, apples, cherries, raspberries, black currants, strawberries, chutney and various jams.
No doubt more will be found once I start rummaging my way through the freezers!
Feels good to think we grew them all.

what are you planning on using?

I've got parsnips, sprouts, kale and carrots for tomorrow out of the garden, with french beans and peas in the freezer.

    Making JA's soup for today.

Mixed lettuce in the GH for salad along with assorted Chutneys and roasted toms.

Raspberries, apples and blackberries for deserts then dried apples to nibble on.

It looks like my little garden has had a productive year

Broccoli and cauli (to go with salmon tomorrow) fresh from the veg patch.
Calçots from the veg patch (to go with pizza) on the 28th.

Figs from the freezer (to go with duck another day).

What we really should be eating is cabbage, though. Anyone needing a ton of cabbage is welcome to come and pick their own.

I had to buy two for tomorrow! Always have it with lardons and garlic ...usually the veg that's gone first.

I’m not doing any cooking tomorrow , or Thursday evening as we’re invited elsewhere.
Pumpkin and ginger soup is defrosting for lunch Thursday.
Some pickled beetroot, cucumbers and nasturtium pods with salad on Friday, with our last 2 tomatoes which have finally ripened indoors, then last of fresh beetroot going in a pie on Saturday with some homegrown spuds and roast pumpkin on the side

Oh, and mincemeat, jams, jellies, chutney and pickles going in boxes/hampers for some family xmas presents;-)

My own apples for apple sauce, my own onions and sage for stuffing. Then my own potatoes, swede and leeks. French beans out of the freezer. Assorted homemade pickles.
