    Default Who used their pumpkin?

With a 50lb pumpkin to deal with I have been busy in the kitchen the last week.

We've had a massive batch of pumpkin soup, 2 big cauldrons of pumpkin curry and an awesome pumpkin cake with orange cream topping.

There is still a lot in the freezer for future use.

What have you been using yours for? Any good recipes?

    pumpkin bread
    soup
    curry
    roast
    puree (-> cakes, tarts, pie)
    froze the rest.

I still have about 50 odd pumpkins to eat too - but happy that I'm self sufficient in them

Mine wasn't as big as yours (11 kg), but I made two batches of soup, and I've frozen quite a bit.

I like it roasted, as well as the soup. Not too keen on sweet stuff though, so I'll probably not bother with cake or muffins.

Ours aren't as big as a football One was roasted yesterday and the other was carved and put on the windowsill for any Halloween-ers to look at
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

That's a predicament I would like to have Chris. I am planning on such a predicament for next year! My squash haul consisted of that big un and a 1kg Butternut and a 2kg butternut (these are being saved for a later date).

I roasted some of ours for the soup and that was very nice. I like the idea of making some bread though. Will have to keep it hush hush though as the others are a bit pumpkined out. I'll have to tell em after they've eaten it.

If I was more organised some would have made it's way into a chutney of some description.

Is the American style pie worth making? Never tried it.

I had a pumpkin dinner party once. Guests had to come wearing yellow or orange - even the dogs had yellow ribbons on their collars.
We had roasted, salted pumpkin seeds to nibble, followed by pumpkin soup. Roast wedges of pumpkin with the main course and pumpkin pie for dessert.

In this instance I have been rather guilty of that

    Was the pie nice?

Yup, binley, once you cut you are comitted. This week I have mainly been in trouble for lack of space in the freezer.
