  • Spagetti squash

Well on a whim I bought some seeds. Well 2 of these seeds have produced monster plants with monster squash - think big watermelon!!! When do I harvest them? How do I cook them? Can anybody tell me what they taste like?
    Thank you folks

I was given a couple by my sister last year. Those were harvested when yellow and the plants had started to die back. Left in garage for a week or so til I got round to using them.
Sliced in half, sprayed with oil on cut surface and baked in oven til flesh soft. Then scooped out and eaten.
It is wetter than spaghetti (nearer baked courgettes for water levels), but better tasting ;-)

I froze spare portions which came out of the freezer so mushy I added a can of tomatoes and some dried herbs and called it pasta sauce... If mine grow this year, I will just store them in the garage and not freeze any!

Thank you, sounds like I'll probably like them as I'm not a fan of pasta! Must admit I wasn't expecting such marauding monsters but pleased at the same time!

I microwave mine in large slices with a small amount of butter.
Then rake with a fork to loosen it.

For me it's probably my favourite squash!

Cook in the oven with some nice oil and eat like spaghetti ..

Did you grow them outdoors or under cover?
