  • Making diabetic (sugar free) jams and chutneys????

    Ok just found out i am diabetic (type 2) Question is when i make me jam and chutneys can i replace the sugar with Canderel, has anyone tried this and what was the result.

    I've been looking into making diabetic jams for my elderly neighbour. Seems that sweetener and gelatine are used to substitute the sugar.

    I have swapped sugar for Splenda before with some success.

      My OH is diabetic and vegetarian made chutney and used normal sugar but will make some just for him.
      Gardening ..... begins with daybreak

        Don't know if you use sugar replacements whether it will store for as long?There was a thread on GC a couple of weeks back~can't remember what it was called(Jackie was it yours?)I posted a recipe for chutney on there,if you can't find it let me know & I'll post it here!

            Amanda if you press search & type "sugar" you'll come across the chitchat thread by Jackie~the recipe is there!!Hope you don't mind me not typing it out~not too fast on the keyboard!!
